A Little Bit About How All This Came To Be

You remember when your kids were little and the teacher would ask for the parents to come in and read for the class? I read to my kids all the time using funny voices and making crazy sounds while I was reading to them. Well, I wanted to do something different and my initial thought was, “what if I pick a book that someone already read to the class” or “this might not be what the class would like”, so instead, I wrote a short story in script form making sure each kid was given a part in the story. I felt if I could engage the class, they would enjoy the story more and feel like they were a part of the journey. As it turned out, I got lucky and the kids loved it, so my wife told me, “Why don’t you just turn that into a children’s book?” Well, I did do just that and in fact, I’m hoping to release another book sometime next year.
The idea for “The Pirates of Bathtub Bay” came to me while I was thinking about my kids and how they are all very creative and love to use their imagination. I think all of us at one time or another were in the tub and pretended to have fun being someone or something else. Growing up, whether it was outside with my friends, inside the house where all you’ve got is an empty cardboard box or when it came to bath time, it seems that the imagination always took over to make something out of nothing. I hope that every parent can relate and enjoy his adventure with their kids while sharing some nautical knowledge as well throughout the book.
